MODEL STUDIES OF SAND RECLAMATION FROM THE WASTE MOULDING MIXTURES WITH NEW INORGANIC BINDER USED FOR CASTING OF ALUMINIUM ALLOYS

Abstract

The article presents the results of model tests and studies of the sand reclamation from waste moulding and core mixtures with an inorganic geopolymer binder, used in the trial production of pilot castings from aluminium alloys. Qualitative assessment of the obtained samples of the sand reclaim and of the post-reclamation waste was done, and possibilities of the reuse of the reclaim to replace fresh sand in the manufacture of moulding and core mixtures for aluminium castings were discussed. Guidelines were developed for the sand reclamation process from the waste moulding and core mixtures used in the production of aluminium alloy castings by small foundries.
